In the night cats fight .
spitting racing hunting prowling
every night.
in the dark
dogs bark
one will start the rest reply.
shouting dog news to the sky
when is t dark.
while we sleep
hedgehogs creep
snuffling snorting as they pass making pathways the grass
while we re asleep.

Changing Landscapes

Myth about the Sun and Moon
The Sun and the Moon
The Sun was in love with the Moon and wanted to marry her, however, the reluctant Sun came up with an idea. He told the Moon, that if he gave her a gift that will fit her size, she would marry him. The Moon agreed and so the mighty Sun got her the most beautiful robe ever seen. But it didn’t fit her. So he got her another size, that too didn’t fit her. It was either too big or too small, he just couldn’t understand her trick. The Moon is never the same size every day, she goes through different phases from the period of the full Moon to the new Moon. The poor Sun is still trying to get the robe to fit.

How to get out of writing Narratives
“Mum I feel sick”. “Are you pulling a Sickey,if you’re pulling a Sickey you’re going to school”. “But I really feel sick”. “you’re going to school Tom you can’t miss any more school”. “But I Feel really crook”. “DONT MAKE ME CALL YOUR FATHER!!” “I feel better now I think I’ll go to school”. So there I was walking to school because Mum didn’t want to drive me,on the way to school I thought about how to get out of writing a Narrative my first idea was to spike the teachers coffee with some of Dad’s Johnny Walker black label whiskey and maybe he’ll forget about the Narratives, but if that doesn’t work,I could tell the teacher that I needed to go to the toilet and do a runner, just when I’d finished making my cunning plan to get out of writing Narratives I got to school 10 minutes late, when I walked into my classroom Mr Dereks said “you’re late” Tom replied “Sorry Mr Dereks my Mum made me walk to school because we had an argument.” “Oh ok just don’t be late again”. replied Mr Dereks. This was it my first plan was starting to come into place,I just needed a distraction, “Hmm Oi Leon” “Yeah”? Leon replied “I’ll give you fifteen dollars to fire a spitball at Mr Dereks” Tom said “Make it 20 and its a deal”Leon bargained “Fine” Tom said handing Leon the note 5 minutes later,Leon loaded his straw with a spitball,he lined Mr Dereks up and ..... the bell rang, great Tom thought sarcastically, now I’m going to have to hope that the teacher has a coffee with his lunch and brings it to class,Tom walked out of the classroom to lunch Leon was beside him and said “Bummer, sorry mate no refunds”.Tom pulled his lunch box out of his bag,no sooner a bully confronted him and forced Tom to give him the bottle that contained the whiskey from his Dads spirit collection,Tom thought to himself well thats the coffee spiking idea gone, looks like I’m going to have to rely on my 2nd plan,Just as he said that a drunken bully staggered past cursing at the school kids.Toms heart was beating rapidly,he prayed to himself “Please Lord don’t let me write a ....Narrative!,the bell rang for the end of lunch,Tom walked back into class, He sat down at his desk,Mr Dereks was explaining what had to be in the Narrative, and Tom put his hand up “Yes Tom What is it” Mr Dereks said “I need to go to toilet Tom replied “Ok but make it quick”.So off Tom walked to the toilet and he was deciding to do a runner or not but then he really did need to go to the toilet so he went and just when he was about to do a runner Mr Dereks came out and said “Finished? it took you long enough”.Mr Dereks said “Sorry Mr Dereks” Tom replied.both of Toms plans had been foiled, although he hated thinking about it he knew he was going to have to write a Narrative,he walked into his classroom and he found two sheets of paper,an eraser and a pencil.

The Flint boys myth
The Flint boys
The Flint Boys is the name to the Pleiades by the Navajo According to the myth, after the Earth was separated from the sky. Black God Had a cluster of seven stars on his ankle.
Every time Black God stamped His foot, the flint boys would Jump up to his knee, Hip, shoulder and finally his forehead, where they remained.
This episode revealed to everybody that Black God was in charge of the sky in fact today , we still can see the flint boys, Namely the Rleidas, High in the sky in autumn and winter.

There were a series of 5 speakers, in between the speakers were some interactive games were kids got to go up on stage, video clips and morning tea and lunch breaks.
The first speaker was Pat Buckley, who is a drug and alcohol counsellor and educator. He talked about his life growing up with an alcoholic father , and then getting involved with drugs, he talked to us about his struggle with drugs and how hard it was to stop.
The second speaker was Alison Mooney, she talked about the “Amazing you” , and then went on to talk about four types of animals with different personalities, the Otter, the Beaver, the Golden Retriever, and the Lion. She described there personalities, and the asked us to pick what animal we thought we were.
The third speaker was Christian Gullen, he talked about his childhood growing up, and how he didn’t make many friends, the doctor said he was socially munted. He talked about the X Factor, and gave us three tips Be friendly say a good word, and listen.
The fourth speaker was Adam Hall, a Paralympic gold medalist in the Slalom Ski race. He was born with Spinabifida , and practiced anywhere from Mt Hutt to Codrona, he shared his special “journey to the top”.
The fifth speaker was Jason Gunn, he said you can’t plan for everything. He also talked about the voice inside your head called doubt, which makes you second guess yourself , and think what if? He said we should set ourself small goals which we can achieve over a short period of time, and keep progressing from there.
I really enjoyed going to NYLD11 it was very inspiring hearing the speakers personal experiences , and I enjoyed it throughly.

Wellingon Camp
In November our senior Year 7 and 8’s are going on camp to Wellington. We are not sure of the complete price of the camp yet but we know where we will be staying. We will be staying at Wellywood Backpackers. We will be staying there because it is a short walk or short bus ride to the places we will be most likely going. It’s accommodation cost is $23 dollars a night. All of the Year 7 and 8’s are very excited about going. We are hoping to do this every couple of years. For parents wondering the complete cost there will be further news letters this term.

Cross-Country recount
On the 17th of May the Amberly School children held there senior Cross-Country.
It was a warm windy day. The afternoon started with the 8 & 9 year old girls followed by the 8 & 9 year old boys. At first a few falls and tears then everybody got on with it. At the end of every race there was not one person that looked tired and exhausted . You could just see all the childrens' smiles on their faces knowing they had finished their race with success. There was also a lot of enthusiasm and cheering as the other people sprinted down the finish line. The day ended with a lolly scramble, after that I was pretty sure everyone enjoyed their race even if they didn't get into Kowai.
Here are a few quotes from some kids before and after their races.
What feeling did you have before and after the race?
Zoe felt competitive and amazed when she finished!
Rhiannon felt competitive and amazed when she finished!
Sean felt awesome at the start and finish!
Brianna felt excited when she started and finished!
Jayden felt like he was going to die or kill himself!
Dean felt nervous at the start and happy at the end!

My holiday in the usa
The wind slowly but coldly blows at my face as i walk out of a casino in Las Vegas.
A scarce look comes over my face as i walk out on a thin sheet of glass that looks over the grand canyon.
I shiver as i wait for my mum to come out of the fog on the golden gate bridge in San Fransisco.
All of the shop's in Vancouver call out to my sister's visa.
The boat slowly cruse's past glacier's and river's from the snowy mountain's.
The free jewelery is to much for me. I want to throw it into the mouths of sea lions from Alaska's town's.
The Santa Monica pier stretches for miles out to sea with shop's on either side.
The rush in Anaheim is amazing, It's all just to get to Disneyland.
From all of this i have realised that i want to do it all again some day.
